No updates quite yet on the service change

Today's Board of Directors meeting brings no word yet on what exactly March 2009's bus service reductions plan will be, although the Board ambiguously left the door wide open saying there may be more or less changes. According to an OCTA staffer, plans should be ready by next week. OCTA buses now sport miniature green paper pads and overhead (albeit out-of-the-way) signs announcing the upcoming community meetings and public hearing.

But in good news, OCTA's SMS (text messaging) bus departure time system is nearly ready. You simply text your bus stop number to OCTA, and they'll text you back the next three departure times. Pretty cool!

Real time?

Most likely, it is scheduled departure time. Helpful but not helpful enough. The good news is that OCTA buses tend to run late rather than early. LACMTA has a horrible early bus problem.
