Foodies: Generous, inexpensive table-service breakfast and lunch Pop's Café in Santa Ana
After a crazy day at the women's urgent care clinic at UC Irvine Family Health Center in Santa Ana, our Ob/Gyn residents and we medical students chowed down at Pop's Café, a nearby sit-down eatery close to a cornucopia of regularly-running OCTA lines.
I had an omelette stuffed with cheddar cheese, avocado, tomatoes, topped with a cool dollop of cream cheese and fresh sprouts. Pop's Café comes with your choice of hash browns, irish potatoes (a lighter mix of potatoes with onions and morsels of green bell pepper), or watermelon.
Dr. Jordan (soon to become a gynecology-oncology fellow) ate hers with watermelon:

I ate mine with the Irish potatoes and two buttered pieces of raisin bread toast. It was delicious!

What astonished me was the price — a cool $8 — for the amount of food and quality of food. No greasy plates. No over-fried eggs. A generous amount of toppings and stuffings within the omelette; plus, the restauranteurs were generous about splitting the check among a large party of 10 of us.
They also serve other delicious foods, like quesadillas (which Shehla had). And, as you can see, Pop's Café offers outdoor street-seating underneath umbrellas, along with comfortable indoors.

Pop's Café is located just a block from OCTA lines 53, 62, 83, and 757, and a brief walk from OCTA lines 51, 55, 64, 145, 206, and 462. It's also a brief walk from The Depot at Santa Ana, where Amtrak's Pacific Surfliner, Metrolink's Inland Empire-Orange County line, Metrolink's Orange County line, Crucero, and Greyhound stops.

Steven, great post on Pop's
Steven, great post on Pop's Cafe! Not only is it a great local diner near my neighborhood in Santa Ana, my uncle opened it years ago. Many of the customers that go to Pop's today still remember him. : )
