Orange County Young Democrats asks riders, members to call OCTA Boardmembers to restore bus funding
A friend of mine, Phil, sent this in. The Orange County Young Democrats are aware of the bus cuts and their call for action boils down to this: call the OCTA Board of Directors as these politicians make the decisions at OCTA. Read on to see what you can do and what numbers to call.
Dear OCYD Members,
At our last OCYD meeting we had a member speak about the devastating cuts to public transportation that the OCTA Board is considering. These cuts to public transportation will increase congestion for all of us and hurt those individuals who need public transportation the most.
We are asking you to call your local representative on the OCTA Board and tell them that cutting bus service by 30% is UNACCEPTABLE and that the OCTA Board needs to restore the funding that rightfully belongs to the bus system immediately.

Sample Script:
"I am very concerned about the extreme and devastating cuts to our bus system that you and your colleagues on the OCTA Board are considering. Those cuts will increase congestion for all of us, as it will lead to more cars on our streets. Please move to immediately restore the funding that belongs to the bus system so that those cuts can be avoided. As a voter in your city/district, this is an issue that will have an effect on how I vote in the next election."
