It's Bike to Work Week!
This week, OCTA is celebrating "Bike To Work" week. I've pasted in the details from their Bike To Work page, plus UC Irvine's events; also, scroll down for bicycle rallies.
Bike to Work Week is May 17 – 21, 2010
Get Healthy During Bike to Work Week.
Can you get healthy on your way to work? You can if you grab your bike instead of a drive-through latte. Get out of your car and get in the health lane for Bike to Work Week. You’ll stay fit and help improve our air quality, too.
Exercise isn’t the only reward you’ll get when you ride your bike to work. Pledge to bike to work and you’ll receive a $25 discount coupon to Jax Bicycle Center. You’ll also be entered to win great prizes in OCTA’s Bike to Work Week raffle. So get your bike and helmet and get ready to ride!
Pledge Now to Bike to Work
Submit your Bike to Work Pledge Formnow and get a chance to win fantastic prizes! The more participation by your fellow employees, the greater chance for your company to win the OCTA Corporate Challenge. Click the Prizes tab to see what you can win!
Bike Resources at the Ready
Check the links at the right before you bike. You can calculate your carbon footprint and view an Orange County Bikeways Map to plan your trip to work. If you’ve got a long commute, take your bike on the bus or train. You’ll find bus schedules and maps and a short video on how to use bus bike racks. And you can see what other people have to say about biking to work. Click on the Resources tab to find safety tips and helpful links.
Join the OCTA Bike Rally Friday, May 21
Plan to join OCTA’s Bike Rally from the Orange Metrolink Station to OCTA headquarters in Orange. You can bike with OCTA CEO Will Kempton and attend the Bike to Work Week event presentation at OCTA. The rally starts at 8:00 a.m. It will be a healthy way to start your day!
